Piston press vs screw press

Two machines make biomass fuel: the screw extruder (rod machine) and the piston briquette press. The piston type hammers material into thick 70–80 mm logs at lower temperature, handling fibrous straw and husk that challenge screw machines, and producing the chunky fuel industrial boilers prefer.

Key parameters to define

Typical configuration ranges

ItemCommon optionsIndicative range
Press typeMechanical piston punchBy material fiber
Log diameterInterchangeable dies70–90 mm
ThroughputModel series300 kg/h – 1.5 t/h
PowerMain motor22–55 kW

Ranges are indicative. Fibrous residues need pre-crushing and moisture control.

What a quotation should clarify

Quotation areaQuestions to record
Material testWas your residue briquetted, with density results?
Moisture windowWhat moisture range does rated capacity assume?
WearPunch and die life on your material, replacement cost?
Pre-processingIs crushing/drying equipment included for your residue?
DensityLog density and calorific value demonstrated?
