Why charcoal producers add briquetting

Every tonne of lump charcoal leaves 100–200 kg of fines that sell for almost nothing. Briquetted with a little binder and dried, those fines become BBQ briquettes that often outsell lump charcoal in supermarkets. For existing charcoal plants, a powder briquette line is usually the fastest margin upgrade available.
