Why slime is worth drying
Every tonne of slime dried from 28% to 12% moisture gains calorific value, stops freezing to rail cars, and sells as thermal coal instead of costing disposal fees. Mines with washing plants usually recover the dryer investment within one or two seasons.
How the design handles stickiness
- Breaking feed: a dispersing feeder shreds the cake before the drum.
- Staged flights: cleaning flights scrape the drum wall continuously in the wet zone.
- High inlet temperature: rapid surface drying passes the sticky phase fast.
