Why sand is its own discipline
Sand flows freely when dry and bridges when wet; it's abrasive to everything it touches; and its final moisture spec — often under 0.5% — is stricter than most minerals. Dryer sizing, flight pattern and dust collection all follow from those three facts.
Typical configurations
| Line class | Sequence | Throughput |
|---|---|---|
| Small | Biomass furnace → Ø1.2 m rotary drum → cyclone | 3–6 t/h |
| Mid | Furnace → Ø1.8 m rotary → screen → cyclone + bag filter | 8–15 t/h |
| Large | Furnace → three-pass Ø3.0 m → screening station → full dust plant | 20–40 t/h |
What a quotation should clarify
| Quotation area | Questions to record |
|---|---|
| Inlet moisture | As-delivered moisture, wettest season — not average? |
| Wear | Flight and drum liner material for silica abrasion? |
| Dust | Emission limit at your site; baghouse included or cyclone only? |
| Screening | Post-dry classification into saleable grades included? |
