Why mill selection starts with the ore

A mill that is too small starves the plant; too large wastes capital and power. Correct sizing comes from ore hardness (Bond work index), feed size from the crushing stage, and the liberation size your recovery method needs — gravity, flotation or leaching each demand a different grind.

Key parameters to define

Typical configuration ranges

ItemCommon optionsIndicative range
Drum sizeDiameter × length series0.9×1.8 m – 3.2×4.5 m
ThroughputBy ore and grind target1–60 t/h
DriveEdge drive, center drive18.5–800 kW
LinersManganese steel, rubberBy abrasion level

Ranges are indicative. Mill sizing must follow ore test data, not catalog capacity.
