Where CIL fits
Gravity circuits recover free, coarse gold cheaply. But fine or sulfide-locked gold needs leaching: ore is ground, thickened, then agitated in cyanide solution while activated carbon adsorbs the dissolved gold. Loaded carbon is stripped in elution and the gold electrowon and smelted to doré. It is capital-intensive and regulated — the right choice only with ore-test confirmation.
