Why pretreatment is not optional

Pressing unroasted sesame yields flat oil; over-roasting burns it. The roaster sets both flavor and extraction rate, and seed cleaning upstream protects the press from stones and metal. A line that skips pretreatment saves money on paper and loses it in oil quality and wear parts.

Key parameters to define

Typical configuration ranges

ItemCommon optionsIndicative range
Roaster typeRotary drum, flat-bottom wok style50–500 kg/h seed
HeatingElectric, gas, wood-firedBy local fuel cost
CleaningVibrating screen, destoner, magnetMatched to seed supply
ControlManual, thermostat, PLCBy roast consistency needed

Ranges are indicative. Roaster sizing must follow press throughput, not total seed volume.

What a quotation should clarify

Quotation areaQuestions to record
MatchDoes roaster output per hour cover your press demand?
FuelFuel consumption per batch at your local fuel type?
ControlHow is roast temperature measured and held?
Cleaning scopeWhich cleaning stages are included for your seed supply?
LayoutMaterial flow from cleaning to roaster to press?
