Start with the rock, not the brochure
Arabian shield granite and basalt typically run 150–250 MPa with high silica — among the most abrasive common quarry rocks. Two consequences: jaw plates in high-manganese Mn18 rather than standard Mn13, and a conservative capacity rating. A jaw advertised at 200 t/h on limestone may honestly deliver 130–150 t/h on Saudi granite. We size for your rock, and we'll say so in the quotation.
Heat changes the specification
- Bearings and lubrication: grease life halves at desert temperatures; specify high-temperature grease and, on larger units, consider oil-bath bearing arrangements.
- Motors and electrics: motors derate above 40°C ambient — we fit the next frame size up for Gulf duty as standard.
- Dust sealing: sand ingress kills bearings faster than rock does. Labyrinth seals plus grease purging are worth specifying explicitly.

- Spares: hold one jaw-plate set and one bearing set on site — shipping downtime costs more than the spares.
