Why water drives the design
A conventional open-circuit wash plant can use 100–200 litres of make-up water per tonne of sand. In Oman that means tanker costs, well permits and questions from the municipality. A closed circuit — recovery cyclones, settling ponds sized to the flow, return pumps — cuts make-up water to what evaporation takes, often 10–20 litres per tonne.

Common mistakes we see
- Ponds sized by guess: too small, and muddy water returns to the washer, contaminating the product it just cleaned.
- No recovery cyclone: 5–10% of saleable fine sand settles in the ponds and gets excavated as waste.
- Ignoring evaporation in summer sizing: a circuit balanced in January can starve in July.
